This weekend, Cass, Freedom (yes a kiwi named Freedom)and I caught the ferry to Waiheke Island. It's not far from Auckland but has a much slower pace of life, lots of resident artists, vineyards, rich people on vacation... We camped at an olive farm/alternative preschool (emphasizing creative output rather than interalizing knowledge)/ campground. We explored the beaches, chased the ducks, ate many many fejoas (green tropical fruit that looks like a elongated lime but tastes like delicious), played uker, egyptian ratscrew and B.S., I mean 'i-doubt'it'. We went wine and beer tasting, got rained on, then cooked up quesedillas and refried beans because Freedom had never had Mexican! Here are some pictures...
